You are invited to attend the 10th annual Artful Bench and Bar. The theme ‘A Night of 1000 Cranes’ has been chosen to commemorate this important milestone. According to an ancient Japanese legend, anyone who folds 1,000 origami cranes will be granted a wish by a crane. As a result, this tradition has become a symbol of hope and healing during challenging times.
This year’s event will include a live art auction and a silent auction featuring art and experiences. This is the event of the year to see and be seen in the Calgary legal community, with more than 300 people attending, including members of the Bench, Bar and friends of the legal profession. Live music, appetizers, cocktails and Japanese inspired entertainment will also be part of the evening’s program.
The economic downturn has been difficult for Calgary’s vulnerable children and the charities that serve them. An increased demand for CLERC’s services coupled with funding cuts has rendered us unable to meet the needs of young people in crisis. Our waitlist has doubled in the past four months and we expect it to quadruple by the end of 2016.
By attending this event, you will be contributing to our goal of raising $85,000 to clear our troubling waitlist of children in turmoil. A $50 tax receipt will be provided for each ticket sold. If you can’t attend, but want to help us reach our goal you can donate here. All donations over $20 will receive a tax receipt.
The very foundation of CLERC is hope. We approach our work with the diligence and patience of folding 1,000 paper cranes. With your support, we can grant disadvantaged young people in our community the ultimate wish: one of hope for a better future.
